September 16th

Yesterday we had our first critique. My colleagues are from all sort of preferences and painting and drawing styles, so the best part of the critique, for me, was seeing the diversity of work. Everything from drawings, to figures in oil, to sewn and stitched instillation.

In my opinion, all the work was very strong. I also felt like the critique for my work went well. Although I was not entirely satisfied with all of it. However, something I learned early on is that even if you don't like your work, pretend you do. Nothing like saying you hate one of the paintings and that ends up being the one most liked by the proff.

On wednesday we had our first art history class with Peter. Pretty awesome dude. We looked at a handful of image slides and he informed us on the importance of symbolism in renaissance art. I'm excited for next week when we'll begin our lectures of art history on location.

Here are a couple pictures of paintings part of my assignment (the images from the previous post were also included).

Also, here is an image from my sketchbook I did quite a while ago while I munched on almonds. This image is from a Piazza near the Santissima Annunziata.
